It Just Did Not Happen...
I was sooooo hoping that I would get through cold and flu season without an incident with Daniel. Well, it just did not happen. Apparently the fever he had over the weekend was just a precursor to a lovely cold that has kicked his little butt. He has been coughing a ton and sleeping a ton during the day - soooo not like him. I got a little worried yesterday when I asked Daniel if his ears hurt and got a "Yeah." So off we went to the Drs.
Luckily it is just a cold - no ear infections or throat issues. We just need to let it run its ugly little course. Though this is really not funny but when we went in yesterday both the nurse and Dr. said "Oh, its been a long time since we have seen you." I wanted to say "And that is how I like it" but I did refrain. So, we are in the house hoping the cold stays with Daniel and leaves us as quickly as it came.
Oh well, I did make it to the end of February.........

Happy 21st!
Today marks Daniel's 21st month birthday! I can't even believe that in three short months he will be two! How quickly time has gone by and how much has changed over these past 21 months. Unbelievable! Daniel spent his "birthday" morning at our weekly music class. He did much better this week and no tears were shed. He even chased and hugged two of his classmates so I guess there is hope!!!
Daniel's speech is coming along and his therapist is quite happy with his progress. Now if I could get his eating on the same pace as his speech progress I would be one happy camper. I guess I am still working on the concept "all in good time."
Knowing that we will need to go in Cincinnati for Daniel's six month evaluation in April I made a preemptive strike and called them today. Actually I was trying to find out how close to Easter his appointment would be scheduled in order to plan our Easter plans. "Luckily" they have put us on the schedule for April 22nd - exactly one year and one day to the anniversary of his airway surgery. How ironic is that? I guess it is not a bad place to "celebrate" Daniel's voice.
Daniel continues to be a happy and funny little boy. As you can see, he continues to find new and interesting ways to play with his toys.....
Until next time.......

Oh What A Day,,,,
Oh what a day it was!! Since Daniel appears to be craving socialization with other little people, I finally took him to an age appropriate class that focuses on music. Despite some crying in the beginning of class Daniel did finally warm up and enjoyed dancing around to the beat of the music and got into it. The program also allows you 45 minutes in their soft play gym which was great and Daniel enjoyed very much. So we now have a fun activity to do on Wednesday morning until April which is not therapy related. YEAH!!!
The plan today was also to attending another book signing for Kate Gosselin from TLC's show "Jon and Kate Plus Eight." Yes, I know but I am addicted to the show. I think deep down it just makes me feel better knowing my life is not that crazy. Anyway, Mike suggested I call and see if they were giving out wristbands since she is pretty popular around here. Once again Mike was right on the money and I went at 4:25 p.m. to get my wristband. Mind you - they started giving out wristbands at 4:00 p.m. and I got number 216. So the plan was to go back around 7:30 p.m. or so and have her sign the book and take a picture with Daniel. Yes, we are on a mission to see how many "famous" people he can get his photo with. Well the plan did not go according to plan since my mom fell this morning and broke her wrist and needed to have surgery immediately. So, Mike was kind enough to go to the book signing with Daniel and I went to the hospital. (Everything went fine with my mom but she has to wear a cast for six weeks.) The funny thing was we estimated that Kate would not get to the 200's for about hour and half. When Mike got there at 8:00 p.m. they were already up to the 400's. Luckily Mike was able to cut the line and only had to wait 25 minutes. He was not able to get Daniel in the photo since they were "moving" the line along. (Watch the video and you will see what I mean.) Oh well! Here are a few photos courtesy of Mike of the book signing ...
The crowds.
Notice the Mall Security Guard just waiting for something to happen

Notice the gifts behind her...They are for her kids.
People are CRAZY!!

I do have to say, her signature is horrible.

Fishy, Fishy, Fishy....
To the New York Aquarium we go. Today was an absolutely beautiful day here (it reached 58 in Central Park) so what better way to spend a nice day than to visit our aquatic friends at Coney Island with Angie and Brett. Daniel enjoyed spending time with the fishes and getting to know more about walruses, sea otters, and sharks. Of course there was a visit to the touch pool where Daniel had no problem petting starfishes and horseshoe crabs. All and all the aquarium was quite enjoyable. Here are some photos from our visit to the aquarium. Enjoy....

PF Chang's and Jane Seymour All in One Night
Since it was 25 degrees here Mike thought we needed some time out of the house and suggested we go out for dinner at PF Chang's. We love PF Chang's and it really has tainted us from eating regular Chinese food. So off we went with Daniel. Though I forgot toys to entertain Daniel he did fabulously well and enjoyed his first PF Chang's experience. And yes, he even ate a little bit of food. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
On the way home we stopped at Ridgewood's Public Library for Jane Seymour's book signing of "Open Hearts." For those of you who don't know Jane has created a line of jewelry for Zales entitled Open Hearts. To be honest I have no idea what that book is about but Mike really wanted to stop and get a signed copy of the book. Joe Torre was also at bookstore in Ridgewood signing his new book "The Yankee Years" which I wanted to go to cause I thought "how cool would it be to get a picture of Daniel with Joe Torre." Well, Joe Torre was gone by the time we got to the bookstore but he does have a photo with Jane Seymour for his scrapbook.
Yes, it is a horrible picture of me but check out Daniel checking out Jane Seymour's butt.

Super Sunday!!!
In celebration of Super Bowl Sunday we made it a "Super Sunday" for Daniel. Daniel hit the slopes at our local ski mountain and enjoyed the 40 degree day with some sleigh riding and swinging in his swing outside. Daniel did great at skiing and once again feel asleep coming down the mountain. Actually we have come to the realization that Daniel has been down the mountain more times than Mike and I.
Anyway, here are a couple of photos of our "Super Sunday."

Project 365
Though I can't take credit for this idea I do think it is a fabulous one and I am going to try and a make a go of it. It is called "Project 365" and the goal of it is to post a photo or something each day of the year thus "Project 365." Yes, I know I am already a month late but who cares. I will run from the pack and I will be "Project 334". In all honesty Daniel has changed so much lately I thought it would be a fun idea for family and friends to enjoy and see his changes too. So if you want to "watch" visit our blog "365 Days of Daniel" at http://365daysofdaniel.blogspot.com or click on the link on the right side.
Enjoy!!
Enjoy!!
