Off to High School!

Well not really.  Daniel is smart but he is no Doggie Howser, MD.

Last year a mom in Daniel's nursery school class mentioned to me that our local high school has a pre-school program which is run by a teacher and high school students who are interested in or will be majoring in early childhood education in college.  The program, which is two hours in the morning, three days a week, provides almost a one-on-one ratio to the pre-schooler and the "teacher."  After searching and finding the program on the web, I looked in to it, toured it, and decided to enrolled Daniel.  The funny thing is that the teacher who runs the program could be my college roommate.  I swear I am going to call the teacher "Jennifer" on day.  It is totally strange but makes me smile every time I think about it.

Anyway, yesterday was the first day of this program and Daniel was so excited to go.  Granted he has been excited to go to school since we started last week but this was different.  I am not sure if it is because I told him that he would be one of 12 boys in class (he has been totally outnumbered in his other school) or if it was because he would be meeting kids in our town or simply just excited for school.  I will take any of those reasons!  And if I said he took to it like a champ, it would be an understatement.

In the driveway and off we go....

Heading in....(and boy did this give me a flash forward moment)

Finding his cubby by name all by himself.....

And that's all I got because he was off running and playing.  No goodbyes - just a "see ya later" which I might add he blew by me and into Mike's arms at pick-up.  Yes, we are off to High School already!

Off to Pre-K Today

Today was D's first day of Pre-K and boy was he excited to go.  He was dressed and ready to go at 9:00 a.m. even through school did not begin until 12:15 p.m.  As you can see we took the traditional "first day" pictures outside our house.  The shiner makes these photos even more special.

As I said, he was very excited to head off to school.  Can't you just feel the excitement???

In the car, heading off to school.....

In his new classroom, upstairs with all the "big kids"........
Last year we were in the basement as the school keeps the kids separated by age groups.  And what makes it even nicer is that D has three friends from last year in his class this year.  I do have to say it was very sweet to see them all together again.

Of course, the traditional picture by the school's sign.......

And of course there was ice cream after school.....

So here's to a new school year.  Hope the excitement stays.  (And I can't believe this time next year it will be off to Kindergarten for him. Where does time go?)

Happy Anniversary!!

Time does certainly fly by when you are having fun and somehow it has been a full year of Daniel being G-Tube Free!!

Yes, one whole year from the exciting moment in which he pulled his G-Tube out himself.

But I do have to say it has been a wonderful and fun year to the point that if you ask Daniel what is missing from his tummy he will say "Nothing!" Boy, what a difference a year makes!!

A Shiner for the New School Year

Yes, that is what we have all thanks to a Yo-Yo that someone thought could be used as a lasso. (OK - creative but come on!) Couldn't happen last week, couldn't happen the week after next. No, right before school starts on Monday. What a picture it will make outside his school. And what a fun conversation it is going to be with his teacher. "It is nice to meet you Daniel. What happened to your face?"

All I can hope for now is that it fades by Monday or I will just have to take the picture from the other angle. Boys at four.....gotta love it.

Anyone for Movies at Michie?

After this past weekend's brush with Irene the weather here has been beautiful. Sunny, warm and cool nights. No need for the AC and the house windows are open. And what better way to enjoy this terrific weather than Movie Night at Michie Stadium. Yes, it is that time of year again when Army football kicks into high gear and once again Army athletics offers a free movie night at Michie Stadium. As you may recall, we went last year and had a blast. This year was no different. We packed up our stuff (using the stroller was just easier).......

And headed in.......

Prior to the movie, the event offered bouncy houses and games, as well as face painting. D did enjoy the bouncy houses and games and wanted no part of the face painting. And I must say, D did much better this year than last year in the bouncy houses as he was able to stay on his feet and get much better air this time around.....

In addition, there was autograph signings and players to meet.......

And of course there was the playing on the field. Looks like we might just have a little punter on our hands.....

After all the pre-event festivities, it was movie time.

Though they just allow blankets on the field we decided to take a chance and bring our air mattress of the viewing of the movie. Though I was a little cautious in doing it, it was awesome and so saved our butts. And Mike enjoyed the comments that random people made as they walked by.

And as with everything, it was time to go. We packed up and headed out.......

Thanks Army football for another fun night at Michie!
