Happy Voice Day!!

Though some days it seems like it was yesterday while others it feels like a lifetime ago, Voice Day is here again.  It is hard to believe that only FOUR years ago Daniel looked like this after his trach repair surgery.....

And now no one would never know as he talks and acts like this....

HAPPY VOICE DAY MY LITTLE MAN!! We could not be happier with you and keep being you!!!

Taking a Break on Spring Break

With the arrival of Easter so came the arrival of Spring Break.  This year we decided to "take a break on Spring Break" and not do too much.  Our week was filled with sleeping later than usual for D and staying in PJ's until lunchtime.  We even spent one day doing absolutely nothing!!  In addition, we did the little things that we haven't had a chance to do like getting D's haircut, which he NEEDED; a trip to the movies to see The Lorex in 3D (quite a good movie I might add), as well as a visit to Grandma's and Grandpa's.

By the week home was not so much fun and road trips were in order.  So off we went to the Turtleback Zoo on Saturday.  We had never been and it is quite a nice little zoo.  Much to D's happiness the zoo was having a celebration for the wolves as it was their birthday.....

Grey timber wolves and their cake

And of course there was a trip to the Reptile House to see the snakes.  As you can see, he is very excited about this....

And since the weather was awesome here, on Sunday we traveled to Mystic, CT to their aquarium for the day.  On arrival the beluga whales were being feed so someone found a prime spot and watched the action.

We also got to see some seals who were swimming outside.......

All and all a great way to spend Spring Break.  Now it is just a few more weeks to GRADUATION for someone!!!

Easter Egg Hunts!!!

This year, as always, we headed to some Easter Egg hunts prior to Easter.  Luckily the weather was crappy on one of the weekends so "hunts" got spread out to two separate days and much fun was had.

Our first one was our town's Easter Egg hunt on the beach.  This one is always a hit as the beach is filled with boxes of candy for the taking.  Of course there was the traditionally photo with Peter Cottontail.....

And then off to the races they went.

Funny thing was as we were heading to the hunt I told D that the goal was to find the plastic egg that the group had hide in the sand.  For the first time, he actually listened to me, however, by the time he stopped looking for the plastic egg all the candy was gone.  Yes, it equaled one unhappy boy.

Luckily the following Saturday featured another hunt where they actually place plastic eggs in a field and everyone runs for them, per age group.  This time no mention was made about what anyone should find.

 Scooping out the field.....

Though we did not mention anything to D about finding sometime special in one of the eggs, this Easter Egg hunt did feature the placement of four gold coins, per age group, in each section.  And as luck would have it...

D found a gold coin and won an Easter Basket!!   Thank God kids have short memories on somethings as finding the coin totally made up for not getting any candy the week before.
